As healthcare professionals, we often focus on the obvious challenges like treatment protocols, patient access, and reimbursement issues. But there’s an epidemic that’s been growing in the shadows, one that’s deeply affecting millions of people across all walks of life: behavioral health. The suicide rate among men over 55 is rising faster than any other group, and mental health illnesses now touch nearly 60 million adults in the U.S. each year. That’s a staggering number. But what’s even more surprising to me is how few people realize that pharmacies, the very places where we already go to manage our health, could be an essential part of the solution. In my latest article, I dive into this issue and explore how community pharmacies can play a vital role in combating this growing crisis.
