“Friends of Harry”

The story of how the RxRoundtable came to be

Through his long career in the pharmacy and healthcare services world, Harry Travis had become a well-known and respected expert. When he finally ventured out on his own, Harry became a magnet for people who’d exited the corporate grind to follow their passion as a consultant, board member, or focus on special projects.

Before long, Harry noticed a common theme among this expanding network: a developing gap in professional relationships as well as access to leading trends in the pharmacy and related healthcare industry.

Staying current was lagging for many who had left their corporate positions.

There were new things happening in the marketplace that these tenured professionals were struggling to access or stay on top of, putting them at risk for irrelevancy. Harry believed there were too many incredibly talented and experienced professionals falling into this gap—and so he created the RxRoundtable.

At first, it was a small group of pharmacy execs, aka “Friends of Harry,” getting together informally to discuss industry trends and to network. Harry planned and facilitated the meetings, bringing interesting topics to each conversation.

He began inviting up-and-coming companies innovating technology and services to improve pharmacy and related healthcare services. They were changing the game—and creating an encouraging future. These “Spotlight Companies” would join the informal meetings of RxRoundtable Members, present their offerings, and gain invaluable insights from discussions and often challenging conversations with RxRoundtable Members.

Word spread and the group grew…and grew.

In 18 months, Harry's RxRoundtable had expanded to over 140 professionals attending, learning, networking, and benefiting from Harry's vision to serve a growing population of executives who have invaluable, in-depth pharmacy and healthcare industry knowledge and experience, and who wish to make a positive difference in addressing the challenges of the future.

To this day, with a more formally structured RxRoundtable experience, three categories of Membership, and diverse, quality events and resources at Members’ fingertips, Harry’s vision has come to life and continues to expand.

“You don't need a corporate setting to make a real difference.

Simply surround yourself with people who recognize your capabilities and help you achieve your goals.”

Founder of the RxRoundtable
